About the Opportunity:
The Foundation seeks a skilled, mission-driven professional to serve as Community Impact Manager. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, the Community Impact Manager leads community impact initiatives at the Foundation. This position manages program implementation, contributes to program strategy and design, and develops deep relationships with community partners and stakeholders. The Community Impact Manager also serves as a key liaison to the Philanthropy & Communications department, supporting grant development and identifying funding partnership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Community Engagement: Lead the implementation of Foundation community impact initiatives, with a current emphasis on education and youth mental health programming in Del Paso Heights and North Sacramento, including but not limited to:
- Managing program implementation and coordinating community engagement activities with nonprofit partners, schools, and community members.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships through regular check-ins, site visits, and joint planning.
- Representing the Foundation at community events, meetings, and forums.
- Coordinating several of the Foundation's competitive grants.
- Serving as a primary point of contact for participants, grantees, and partners for various community impact initiatives.
Program Design and Strategic Planning: Support the Foundation's strategic direction by:
- Researching emerging trends, community needs, and effective strategies to identify program opportunities and inform strategy.
- Conducting peer benchmarking and best practices research to strengthen the Foundation's approach to community impact.
- Partnering with the Chief Impact Officer and Community Impact Committee, especially the Education Working Group, on strategic planning and grantmaking recommendations.
- Providing technical assistance and strategic insights to grantees, nonprofit partners, and internal teams.
- Identifying high-impact projects and partners aligned with the Foundation's priorities.
Fund Development and Storytelling: Serve as the Impact team's liaison to Philanthropy & Communications and serve as the Impact team lead on fundraising, storytelling, and fundholder engagement, including:
- Working with Philanthropy & Communications to identify and pursue opportunities to bring in funding partners and secure grants for Impact projects and other Foundation priorities, supporting and writing grant proposals and applications, reports, and evaluation projects as needed.
- Engaging current and prospective fundholders to inspire giving and connect them with community impact program opportunities.
- Gathering and sharing compelling stories that highlight program activities, outcomes, learnings, and community impact.
- Supporting community impact communications, marketing, and visibility across Foundation channels as needed.
Department Operations and Administration: Support the Impact team's operational effectiveness and the Foundation's mission and goals as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, education, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, program development, grantmaking, education/youth services, or a related field.
- Proven success in securing grant funding, including identifying grant opportunities and writing grant applications.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong research and analytic skills, including defining problems, gathering data, and drawing sound conclusions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a record of building strong relationships across diverse communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and Teams).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Flexible schedule to support events outside of normal business hours, as necessary.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about health and educational equity; familiarity with the local nonprofit community is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- This is a full-time, exempt role and hybrid position (2-3 days in-office per week) with eligibility for a 9/80 alternative schedule, which consists of nine (9) hours per day Monday - Thursday, eight (8) hours per day on Fridays, and alternating Fridays off.
- This position requires the ability to travel to community meetings, site visits, and partner organizations throughout the Sacramento region.
- This role requires regular interaction with diverse stakeholders, community members, donors, and nonprofit partners in both formal and informal settings.
- Reliable transportation is required. If utilizing a personal vehicle for which they will be reimbursed mileage and conduct work, a valid driver's license and insurance will be required.
- This role occasionally requires the ability to lift and carry event materials and supplies, as well as standing, walking, and setting up/breaking down event spaces for extended periods. Compensation and Benefits:
- $70,304 - $75,304 annually, depending on experience.
